I did a stupid thing. (S11E19)

Today I installed WordPress on the web hosting package that I have (it’s a long story). Then I tried to move it to a different directory, only to figure out (although I’m pretty sure deep down I already knew) that this isn’t possible. So I tried to delete it. Didn’t work. It failed multiple times, the request always timing out. Eventually I figured that it was probably because I used a special character in the name of the installation. Because Plesk is bullshit.

Actually, special characters are bullshit. I can’t really blame Plesk for that.

So after that I tried to install a second WordPress to a different directory. This is currently in limbo. It got stuck creating the database.

I then had an even bigger brainfart and tried to install WordPress on a different domain on the same web hosting package, not realizing that the first installation would have to finish before this new installation could start. And since the first installation is still in limbo…

I hope you know what I’m getting at.

Now I definitely have to write a support ticket and request both WordPress installations to be deleted. It doesn’t really matter, there is no valuable data on there, but it’s gonna be a pain in the ass to do.

This whole day I also tried to update this very WordPress installation, and it also failed with a timeout message. What was the cause? A non-functioning dns server that I had in my resolv.conf. Replacing that with a much more reliable nameserver fixed that problem asap.
